Spurs Women Finish 5th in the 2021/22 WSL Season

Spurs have had a great season under Rehanne Skinner and Vicky Jepson, they've made history a few times and had their highest finish since they've joined the league a few season's ago.

When Rehanne first took the Spurs job to become the new manager, the team had just suffered a defeat on penalties against main rivals Arsenal Women in a cup match. Since she was appointed, the team have improved so much, we lost a few player's but we also signed a lot of talented players including Tinja-Riikka Korpela, Molly Bartrip, Asmita Ale, Cho So-Hyun, Maeva Clemaron, Evelina Summanen, Chioma Ubogagu and Kyah Simon plus Tang Jiali and Viktoria Schnaderbeck who were both loaned to us for the season.

Rehanne Skinners first full season as manager saw the team reach new heights and accomplish things that they haven't done before. On the 12th September Spurs made history by beating Manchester City Women for the first time, it was also City's first defeat at home in the WSL since April 2018. Manchester City were not the only top team Spurs took point's off this season, the other two club's were rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

In the league cup campaign, the lilywhites advanced out of the group stages for the first time, they beat Liverpool in the quater-final to advance to their first-ever semi-final in any competition, but would bow out after a defeat to Manchester City. The Lilywhites have had some brilliant results this season including a 2-1 win over Man City at the beginning of the season, they also had 1-1 draws against both Arsenal and Man United.

I have been supporting this team since 2014 and have seen them achieve so much including winning the league back in 2016, gaining 2 promotions and making history every season.

The player's that have impressed me this season would have to be Ashleigh Neville, Shelina Zadorsky and our top goalscorer Rachel Williams. The whole team have been amazing this season and have worked so hard to finish where they did in the league.

This season Spurs finished 5th in the league after beating Leicester City 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after a goal from defender Ashleigh Neville who has been one of our best players.

I would also like to congratulate our up and coming youngster Isabella Lane who made her first team debut earlier this season in both a cup and WSL league match and also scored her first ever goal, Izzy made her debut in the FA Women's League Cup in an 11-0 win against Watford and scored the last goal in the match. She made her WSL debuts against Man United Women and Arsenal Women. Izzy is a player to watch, she is very talented and has proved that she deserves to play in the first team, make sure you watch out for her as she will be breaking into that first team squad soon.

I would also like to congratulate Josie Green on reaching 100 appearances for the club, Josie has been with Spurs since 2016 and has achieved so much with the club, she has won the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division 2016-17, FA Women's Premier League Championship Play Off Winners in 2016-17 and have won two promotions with them to reach the Barclays FA Women's Super League and that's where they have been since the 2019/20 season.

Congratulations to Ashleigh Neville on being voted both Junior and Senior Fan's Player Of The Season, Rachel Williams on being voted Goal of the season and Molly Bartrip on being voted PFA Community Champion.

I can't wait to see what we achieve next season and what the team will look like then. Congratulations to you all on an amazing season and finishing in our highest ever position in the WSL.
